Maui, Hawaii at a Glance

Lucas here. I am so excited to share my first official Conscious Adventure Tours blog with you! It wasn't but a few weeks ago that Matty and I were manifesting this life-long dream of ours to help people uncover their higher selves, and in a medium of life that we ourselves are impassioned about; adventure! It's amazing what happens when your energy aligns and things seem to effortlessly fall into place. One moment we were picking up carpentry and construction jobs to carry us through, dreaming up CAT, and the next we had our flights booked and ready to set out for our first official adventure. Brand new bicycles in tow, it wasn't hard to say goodbye to the quiet beauty of a Colorado winter and hit the sands of Hawaii for the holidays.

Thus far it's been nothing short of incredible, start to finish. Upon landing we found ourselves at one of the more dubious Maui airports before shacking up at the Seaside Motel. Our taxi to the motel was an immediate practice of choice. We weren't quite paying attention initially to asking Maui for the more kind and easy personality types we prefer to hang out with. We ended up being shuttled by a seemingly easy-going and nice Danish woman who then turned out to be maybe not so nice, perhaps even angry; okay downright pissy. Matt and I were quick to dive into the tools of choice! Choose not to judge her, stay focused, just get to the motel and chalk it up to an experience. Then we were consciously asking for joyful and happy people to join us as we moved forward. And it wasn't long before they began to show up. Using some quick tools of expansion and question, we branched out and found ourselves back to the joy of the moment, asking ourselves "Okay, what blissful people can we meet, what possibilities are on the line, what qualities do we want to experience from this string of events, etc." We achieved our first clearing of any perceived negativity. Phew!

Once checked in, unloaded and good to go, I stepped out the motel door, eager to taste Maui in the light of day. It was simply gorgeous. Within moments I met my first friend Arlena where she invited Matt and I to take our first canoe excursion! The electricity of travel was already revealing its magic presence and introducing a plethora of possibilities.
After our incredible canoe excursion and swim, Matt and I rested in front of our Seaside Motel allowing the universe to reveal the next part of our trip. We then met our next friend, Doug. Doug is a local musician who lived on the Big Island. He invited us to tour southern Maui. Doug was my ideal idea of the warmth and generosity of the local culture. He took us on a journey that explored Hawaiian culture, looking into both its history and musical folklore. Then to be able to take in Hawaii through the lens of a Hawaiian native musician was colorful to say the least! We discussed extensively ongoing issues in Hawaii including gender, and the quote unquote definition of being an energy slut: receiving everything that shows up no matter what no matter how. BAM. At a certain point I was surprised and intrigued to hear Doug say that if he were a woman in Hawaii life would be easier. That night the three of us stayed at the motel again.

The next day Matt and I explored freely. We journeyed through Kihei, extending our rental car for next to nothing, showing us that it has "paid" off well just being here! We relaxed in a town full of beautiful homes, beaches, and people and dined on the most phenomenal fish tacos to be found on almost every corner. That night we slept on the beach. The next morning we awoke on Christmas to a not-so-friendly dog who quickly had us packing our things. We set off in search of coffee and surfboards and shared our day in the ocean on a 10 foot long board catching waves in Maui. 

What a glorious Maui Christmas.
